About Rasdhoo

A small island at the centre of it all

Located in North Ari Atoll, Rasdhoo, the capital island of the atoll, is just an hour’s speedboat ride from Malé and Velana International Airport. Its land area of roughly half a square kilometre is home to around 1,500 people.

In the middle of one of the most famous tourism zones in the Maldives, Rasdhoo is one of the islands that pioneered local tourism in the country. Since the first guesthouse opened in 2011, the island has grown to host more than 25 guesthouses with around 200 rooms, 5 dive centres, 2 watersports centres, 4 restaurants, 6 grocery stores, 3 clothing stores and 7 souvenir shops, nearly all owned and run by local people.

Being the capital of the atoll, Rasdhoo also has a hospital, a bank with an ATM, a post office and a police station: handy services that make for a worry-free stay in paradise.

People of Rasdhoo treat visitors as their family.

Diving in Rasdhoo

Rasdhoo Atoll is famous in the Maldives for its dive sites. Nineteen regular dive sites lie within the atoll, all less than ten minutes from the island, and every dive becomes its own long-lasting memory.

Hammerhead Point, just five minutes away, is one of very few such spots in the world. Manta rays, eagle rays and different types of sharks are spotted in large schools at their own sites, which makes Rasdhoo Atoll a favourite stop for liveaboard trips.
